I am so glad that we had Rachel as a doula. It honestly felt like having a trusted friend at my birth. There is something very comforting in knowing that if I needed her at any point during my pregnancy or postpartum I could text her without fear or judgement.
Rachel has supported births at hospitals, birth centers, and in homes throughout the Chicagoland area. With that she brings extensive knowledge of the different institutions to ensure they align with her clients' birth preferences.
Having Rachel at my birth brought a level of professional insight and care to my experience that I wouldn't have had otherwise. You can study birth positions all you want, but having someone in the room guiding you and gently suggesting maybe it is time to switch positions to keep labor moving is invaluable. My partner and I joke (kind of) that without Rachel, we would not have known what to do and would have laid in the bed the whole time.
