Having Rosa present for the birth of my daughter Maia was such a privilege. My partner and I knew we wanted additional support leading up to and during the birth of our first child, and Rosa made us feel just that, so supported. She helped turn what felt to me like the most intimidating, and at times fearful experience, into a joyful one with her knowledge, guidance, encouragement, and positive energy. What I found so valuable was her support during transitional labour. At the hospital Rosa coached me through various positions to help move the baby along, and I truly believe my progress would’ve been much slower had she not been there. It was so comforting knowing I had this incredible resource in my corner every step of the way, advocating for my care, translating medical lingo and simplifying procedures when my mind wasn’t fully there to comprehend what was happening, and also supporting my partner through all the unknowns of this first-time experience.
It felt like I had my Zia (auntie) in the room with me when Maia arrived. I would highly recommend Mama Rosa, she’s an exceptional Doula, and I hope we’re lucky enough to have her on our birth team for our second baby when the time comes.
