After finding out I was pregnant with our second, there was no hesitation in my decision to reach out to Barbie to see if she would be available to help us welcome our son into this world.
Although we had the knowledge and experience of one labor and delivery already, its was because of the support, guidance and energy that Barbie brought into our first labor that we knew we needed her by our side again.
For both of my long labors, Barbie was there as soon as we needed her, checking in consistently and thoughtfully before she was physically present. When it was time to call her to our side, she was fully present and engaged even when exhaustion made my partner and I both check out!
It’s no surprise that right now healthcare resources are strapped, so I was grateful to have Barbie’s consistent presence through multiple shift changes, help on when to notify nurses when it was time to change positions during my epidural, and to talk me through decision making so that I felt fully in control even when circumstances outside of it were developing.
She has an incredible skillset of balancing professionalism, relatability, empathy and unwavering dedication to seeing the birth through and being part of your first birthday party.
Even though we had already built familiarity and rapport, she took the time to connect with us before delivery again to understand where we were at and who we were as parents now having a couple years under our belt to make sure she was meeting us where we were.
If you are a first time birthing parent or if this is your second (or more) - book the doula and more importantly, book Barbie. She is the perfect addition to your labor team and to your village as you grow your family.
