We met Kim through a friend as I became more interested in attempting natural, physiologic birth. Kim made me feel supported every step of the way in this effort. She educated us, helped me prepare my body, and made my husband and me feel more connected and ready to welcome our baby. We appreciated her warm professional manner and responsive attentive communication. When my pregnancy took an unexpected turn, she continued to provide the same adjacent supportive care. She did not share personal opinions about health decisions but aligned herself with what we wanted and what our care team recommended (this was quite a feat because it changed dramatically in the last few weeks!)
When Kim arrived at my induction she said she had dropped everything to come when she realized how intensely my body responded to the medication. Labor was not really what we had hoped for, requiring more intervention and monitoring than we had planned. And it turned out that even though we had prepared ourselves, nothing could have replaced the way her presence helped us through the whole experience. For example, on the phone I told her I didn't feel comfortable with my morning nurse, but shortly after Kim's arrival the nurse and I developed much better rapport-- which shows what a welcome interface Kim was between us and the hospital staff (on both ends)! She supported all of us with her calm attention and clear words and especially through helping my body relax from rapid contractions. Ultimately, she helped us form wonderful first memories of our growing family in spite of the fact that things took such an unexpected turn. We have only good things to say about how Kim helped my husband, myself, and our baby in this unique moment in our family life. We highly recommend her help to any expecting couple!
