Kayla was my doula for my very first child this past November. In addition to her birthing services, I was also equipped through a dedicated and thorough childbirth+lactation class. My biggest worries throughout my pregnancy were my ability to to advocate for myself throughout the labor experience and the chance that I would not be able to successfully nurse my son. Not only was a beautiful, healthy baby brought into this world with the help of Mrs. Ellis, I have been nursing for 8 months now with plans to continue through his first year of life. I was also, unfortunately, a victim of domestic violence and Kayla went above and beyond in my situation. Checking in constantly, sending resources to me that could help throughout my process. At no point did I feel like this was a transactional relationship; my doula made it known at every step that she cared for mom just as much as baby. Truly a godsend!
