Testimonial for Autumn Duckworth
I first met Autumn entirely by chance. I had decided to labor unmedicated, but several hours in I was feeling pretty alone and unable to verbalize what would be helpful. When my nurse asked if I'd like doula support, I said yes. This is when I met Autumn.
She walked in and I immediately felt like I was not alone. She got to work right away, checking in with me, recommending different positions, and advising my husband on how he could help. What I remember most is her telling me she would stay for the entire labor. Knowing she would stay eased my anxiety and made me feel like I might actually be able to accomplish the whole labor unmedicated, and I did.
I hadn't even considered having a doula before that day, but after that experience, there was never any question about my second pregnancy. As soon as I found out I was expecting my second daughter, I reached out to Swedish hoping Autumn was still available.
In my third trimester my daughter was breech. Autumn taught me exercises to help her turn, and when she didn't, accompanied me to an ECV procedure at 37 weeks. She answered all my questions and helped me understand how things could go. She was a wealth of information. My OB appointments always felt too quick to process everything and ask follow-up questions. Autumn was always available to help me clarify and go deeper. When my water broke and my daughter still hadn't turned, I needed a c-section. Autumn beat my husband to the hospital and supported me from triage to the recovery room, including through the labor that preceded it. I am so grateful she was there through all of it.
Autumn is a kind, passionate, and caring provider. She is deeply knowledgeable and will make anyone feel more confident going into this beautiful, crazy experience, whether it's their first time or something they have done before. Anyone would be fortunate to have her on their team. I highly recommend her.
