We hired Kristin for the birth of our second child. While i had experience being in labor before, I wanted a doula this time because I faced the possibility of being in the delivery room alone if we couldn't find child care for our oldest and I needed someone to help me advocate for myself after I felt like I wasn't listened to during the birth of my oldest. Fortunately, my husband was able to be at the birth but we were so lucky to have Kristin there. She didn't advocate for me - she helped me to advocate for myself. Anytime a decision needed to be made during my labor, Kristin made sure I knew I was in control. She also helped me cope as I tried to labor without an epidural. She helped me remember to breathe, change positions, and use counter pressure. Importantly, she also helped my husband stay involved. She was a calming presence that really just transformed the birthing experience. I would 100% recommend her to someone looking for a doula. We aren't having more children, but if we were, I would absolutely turn to Kristin again.
