Regardless of what is your birth plan, you need Dana!
I can't imagine someone taking better care of me. Dana was there for my every need! Dana surrounded me with such psychological support that I felt uncomfortable and lonely whenever she wasn't holding my hand. During the most intensive phase her voice became my inner voice, the one that keeps you sane, the one that removes unnecessary noises, the one that knows and makes sure your birth wishes are being fulfilled! She surrendered me with so much care that it felt like if she was my mother. She had everything under control at hospital, so I was at ease and could focus on my experience.
If you think your partner should do all of that, I would say your partner needs Dana as well! Partners also get overwhelmed, partners do have other things to do, and more often than not partners are not that sensitive and experienced in all related to labor.
And the postpartum visits are precious. All the nurses and lactation consultants couldn't help with latching as Dana did just from the first attempt.
This journey would be way more terrifying and negative if Dana wasn't supporting me and my husband!
