Autumn was a wonderful support throughout the pregnancy and birth of my second child. She far exceeded my hopes and expectations for support during pregnancy, birth, and beyond. I had a traumatic birth experience and postpartum period with my first child. I felt alone and powerless during my first labor and birth. Medical providers did not listen to me nor inform me about what was happening and what interventions they were using. One even blamed lack of labor progress on me and my effort/ability. After pushing for several hours, I had a C-section. Recovery was very rough, and I didn't have much support at all.
When I found out I was pregnant with my second child, I had a lot of fear and had to work through all those complicated feelings regarding my first birth. Autumn and Jocelyn were there with me though out. I wanted to try for a vbac, so they provided resources and strategies to help increase my chances of that outcome. We came up with contingencies for if I did need another C-section. This time, I went into labor around 39 weeks. Throughout the process, Autumn was there providing encouragement and comfort for me as well as checking in with my partner to make sure he was able to be present and support me. She gave me more information about interventions and provided pros and cons, while leaving the decisions to us. She also filmed the birth, which was honestly everything I could have hoped for. However I think the most healing and wonderful part of this was that I did feel prepared and was in a much better place to accept if I did need another C-section. Afterwards, she checked in at us at home to make sure we were settling in well.
I cannot imagine having a better support person during this whole process. Not only did she support me during the birth of my second child, she was an invaluable support as I did the work of healing from my previous experience. I highly recommend Autumn and her team.
