We hired Ibe as a night doula. I had a traumatic emergency c section with complications where both me and my daughter almost died. My husband and I panicked at the hospital about how we would care for our newborn while I couldn't even walk. I had a daytime postpartum doula that I texted asking for a reference and she sent Ibe my way. One quick call and Ibe made herself available to meet us the night we got home.
She immediately made me feel at ease about handing my newborn to her. Words can't describe the level of trust it takes to hand over your heart and soul after you almost lose your baby. I had 0 hesitation with her. Her energy is calming and loving, and I have no doubt Ibe loved our daughter like one of her own. She also constantly checked on me and helped my mental health as I recovered. We loved her so much that we kept her every other night for 3 months and constantly extended her contract as we dreaded it ending. She helped us navigate feeding issues, set up our baby's routine, and taught us tricks for care (and our baby sleeps through the night!). She helped us with our daytime struggles too as we learned in this transition to parenthood. While the sleep is a huge perk, having her allowed me and my to reconnect as a couple with movie nights, learn how to care for our baby, and prioritize my physical and mental recovery.
I'm so grateful we found Ibe at such a vulnerable time. There is no chance we would be where we are without her and I feel lucky to have such a wonderful person as part of our village. Tears were shed once I went back to work and our time was up.
