I came back to CeCe for my third birth because of what she did during my second.
My middle daughter Ella's birth was a VBAC that went wrong fast: shoulder dystocia, meconium aspiration, ECMO, 67 days in the NICU. CeCe was there for all of it. Not just the labor support, but the aftermath - the pivot from the birth we planned to the crisis we were living. What I remember most from that day isn't just the clinical chaos. It's CeCe joining us for so much more than labor & delivery.
So when I got pregnant with my son, there was no deliberation. She was the call I made.
Theo was born via planned C-section, and CeCe absolutely did not have to come into that OR. She came anyway. At 9:30 in the morning she was there, and she stayed until 2:30 in the afternoon. At some point in that room, in the middle of everything, she leaned over to my husband and said: he was born to "Baby Love" — make sure you remember that. We had a playlist on shuffle. She was paying attention in a way that no one was required to pay attention. That's just who she is.
She also texted for updates in the days after, showed up at our home with coffee and quiche, and housed my placenta for a week. None of this was part of any agreement. All of it was just CeCe being wonderful.
If you are deciding whether to hire her: she is the person you want in the room when everything goes right, and the person you need in the room when it doesn't. We are so blessed to know her and have her on our team.
