Sophie was an incredible ally and companion through my entire birth planning, labor, and delivery. She really took the time to get to know my partner and I, along with the wishes for our son and how we wanted to bring him into the world! I'm a great reminder that it's never too late to bring a doula on to your birthing team; after searching for the perfect match, I found Sophie towards the end of my third trimester. The timing couldn't have been more perfect, and she was able to specifically tailor a plan to our expedited timeline where we were still able to get our consultations and birth education ahead of the main event. From the very beginning of our planning, I felt heard and encouraged by her to pursue the vision of my unmedicated "dream birth" while navigating the medical system. Her presence and support throughout my labor kept me grounded and determined as I tackled this incredible journey. My husband and her worked together as a team to push me to find strength I didn't know I had deep within myself. My labor was long and challenging, but I am so grateful that Sophie was there to help guide me along with different positions, strategies, and encouragement any time I felt myself nearing my limit. Her commitment to me and my birth plan was unwavering as she advocated for me all the way to the final push. I was very impressed with her work ethic; she's able to attend long births and still manages to care for her other clients the next day. She went above and beyond over and over again for my 24 hour labor, making sure the birthing space was protected and that things progressed as naturally as possible. Because I was fortunate enough to have this experience, I now feel closer to my body, husband, and baby. I will be forever grateful for my transition into parenthood! I hope Sophie's compassion and guidance help other women to find the strength to fight for their dream birth as well!
