Our pregnancy and labor experience did not go as planned. After spending 10 days in the antepartum unit, our son was born 10 weeks early. Everything happened much faster than expected, and instead of building a relationship with our doula beforehand, we first met Amber during labor.
We were connected to Amber through a mutual friend, but our initial consultation was interrupted when my partner was admitted to the hospital. Our rescheduled call was canceled because labor had begun. I reached out to Amber from the hospital, explained what was happening, and within minutes of our conversation she was already on her way. Based on what I described, she knew birth was imminent and changed her evening plans without hesitation.
As soon as she arrived, Amber stepped right in and stayed by my partner's side throughout labor. She provided a calm, reassuring presence, explained what was happening, and helped us navigate an experience that no class could have fully prepared us for. Her expertise and confidence brought us comfort during one of the most overwhelming moments of our lives.
Birth is an incredibly vulnerable experience, and adding unexpected medical complications made it even more so. Trusting someone we had just met was a leap of faith, but Amber quickly earned that trust through her professionalism, compassion, and skill.
Her support didn't end at delivery. She visited us in the NICU and later at our home, checked in on us, answered questions, and connected us with resources like lactation consultants. Our healthy baby boy is home now, and we're incredibly grateful that Amber was there when we needed her most. We wholeheartedly recommend her to any growing family.
