Kizzy was my doula when I gave birth earlier this year, and she was wonderful. Throughout my pregnancy, she checked in on me through text messages and always supported and encouraged me, no matter how I was feeling.
Even though I had only met her twice (once virtually and once in person) prior to the day I went into labor, I felt so comfortable and safe with her during my labor and birth experience. Kizzy came prepared with a lot of helpful birth tools, like a spikey ball that I squeezed during every contraction of my very long pushing phase. She was a calming presence and offered helpful guidance to me and my birth team. At one point while I was pushing on my bed, I asked for Kizzy to sit behind me so that I could have someone to lay back against. She did not hesitate to do and be everything I needed, and I am so grateful.
Kizzy was also so very kind to my almost 3YO daughter who was present for most of my labor, and she read some books with her while my mom was still en route to take over with caring for my daughter. In the weeks and months following my birth, my daughter spent a lot of time pretending that I was in labor and that she was my doula/"my Kizzy."
When Kizzy visited me postpartum, she spent time talking with me, tidying some of my house, and cooking a delicious breakfast for me. She also gifted me with a typed up and framed version of my birth story, which was so meaningful to me.
I highly recommend Kizzy as a doula, as she is skilled, compassionate, supportive, and a safe place to land during the vulnerable periods of pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum.
