We made the incredibly smart decision to hire Rebecca to be our doula for the birth of our daughter. The meetings we had before the birth helped us feel at ease with the process more than any book, podcast, or class could have. We each had our own specific worries (I’d never changed a diaper before) and Rebecca made sure that we felt as comfortable as we possibly could before the birth. Rebecca was instrumental on the day of the birth, and I have no idea what we would have done if she was not there. She was there to support and assist mom, but she also made sure that I was eating, hydrating, and staying grounded so I could be there for mom as well. It felt like we were all on the same team. She didn’t make any choices for us, but she gave us all the information we could need to make informed decisions when things didn’t go according to our ideal birth plan (they never do). Rebecca’s presence was so reassuring and helped us be as calm as we could hope to be on such a chaotic, exhausting, beautiful, joyful day. After the birth, she came to our home to visit and helped with lactation advice, brought us soup, and bathed us in her warm, calming aura. She even got along with our dog who hates almost every stranger she’s ever met. I’d give her a 10 out of 10 and am thrilled we went with her as our doula.
