There aren’t enough words to express how amazing Riva is! We were pretty adamant that a doula wast not something we needed for our first birth but we were recommended by our midwife to take Riva’s birth class. After spending the day with Riva, we instantly knew our upcoming birth would benefit so much if she was able to join us and we decided maybe a doula was the right choice for us. Oh were we right!
Riva coached my husband through early labor over the phone and then joined us at home before helping us make the decision to transfer to the birth center. When I wasn’t progressing at the birth center she made a plan that we followed and ultimately led to my baby being born just a few hours later! Riva transformed our birth- she made us feel calm, confident in our choices, so supported, and her knowledge and expertise allowed my husband to be solely focused on supporting me because we trusted Riva to guide our next steps and decisions. My husband I are confident our first baby’s birth would have been wildly different had Riva not been there. Plus, she’s the sole reason we have any photos from the birth- we cherish them!!
Riva’s support after birth was crucial in those first few weeks and we felt confident making choices for our baby due to her guidance. We had family over who met Riva during one of her postpartum visits and they all said “I wish I could have Riva support me in every life decision!” A funny sentiment, but so indicative of how infectious Riva’s calm and supportive presence is. We seriously cannot recommend Riva enough.
