First, I want to say working with Janelle was happenstance. She was the backup to my original Doula who had a conflict on my delivery date so Janelle was available and assisted in The birth of my daughter.
What started out as an idea that I would possibly need somebody else on the day I went into labor turned into, what I know, will likely be a long-term friendship.
My first call to let her know I was in labor to the moment Mia was born, Janelle was nothing but supportive, understanding and peaceful. To say I could not have done it without her would be an understatement. She kept me calm, make sure the rest of my birth team stuck to my birth plan, and advised when necessary. She stayed throughout my whole on medicated, birth, and left after she knew I was OK and ready to move into the postpartum room.Since then, she has visited in those first weeks to oversee my recovery and we have asked her for overnight nursing help and will continue with her services through the birth of other children.
I can’t say enough great things about her skills as an doula and as a person and my only regret is that there are not two of her.
