Hiring Aubrey as my doula was the best decision I made! I am a first time mom and I was extremely nervous about giving birth. My family lives over three hours away so my husband and I decided that we would hire a doula for extra support. I found Aubrey online through DONA international. She was absolutely amazing! We had two meetings before I gave birth (one at my house and one online) during which we developed a birth plan, she talked me through parts of labor that I was nervous about, and even went over breastfeeding. When it came time to give birth, she came to my house at 2am to labor with me until I was far enough along to go to the hospital. I was already 5 centemeters dialated when I got to the hospital because of Aubrey's help! She kept me calm and helped me work through the contractions until we felt it was time to go. At the hospital, she was the best support I could have asked for! She put me in different positions to make sure that I was progressing. Even my labor and delivery nurse was impressed with her! During labor, she suggested different pusing techniques and helped supprt me throughout the whole labor. My son's birth was not easy and I ended up pushing for six hours because his head wouldn't get past my pelvic bone. I don't know if I would have been able to push him out without any intervention without Aubrey's help. She was so supportive and was my biggest cheerleader to keep my spirits high after working for so long. We kept trying different positions and finally his head made it through. After the birth she stayed for the first breastfeeding session and helped give me pointers. A few days after I gave birth, she came to my house and helped me with breastfeeding tips when I was struggling and checked on me and the baby. She sized me for my breast pump and taught me how to use it. I am forever grateful that I had her support during the birth of my son. She truely is wonderful and was helpful during the entire process!
