Testimonial for Carol Eddy
I am so thankful I was able to have Carol as my doula. I found out about her when I was around 34 weeks pregnant. I was originally wanting to give birth at home, but when I was around 26 weeks we found out my baby was high risk and I would have to give birth in the hospital instead. I was disappointed about this, but talking with Carol and creating my birth plan really helped keep me encouraged.
I called Carol when I was in labor and she came to help me labor at home before we headed to the hospital. We had actually already gone to the hospital before this, but they said I was only 1 cm dilated and sent me home. I wanted to wait until I was sure I was in active labor and the baby was well on his way before I went in again.
Unfortunately, I waited too long and not long after Carol arrived, the fetal ejection reflex kicked in. We got in the car, but I quickly realized as we started driving that I was about to deliver the baby in the car. We stopped the car and I went back into the house where my baby was born during the next contraction, in two pushes. He was born still in the sack, so Carol helped me pull it off and he began pinking up right away.
I was completely calm during the whole experience, even though there were no medical professionals there, because I trusted Carol and she knew what to do.
