We were on the fence about having a doula, but decided to have Alexa with us for our first baby. We were so glad we decided to have her there! She put me at ease and I immediately felt comfortable with her. She made recommendations and helped me with different positions and helped recommend when my husband should rest, so he would be more help later. I was hoping to avoid an epidural, but ended up having one at 8cm. She helped us navigate the decisions we had to make and advocated for me based on what we had previously discussed. She ended up being with us in the hospital for almost 36hours. I also appreciated the check-ins after we came home and breastfeeding support since she's an IBCLC.
