Hire this woman!!! We are so, genuinely barfingly grateful to have worked with Laurie for the birth of our first child. As anxious first time parents, her grace, kindness, expertise, and wisdom was critical for our positive experience in labor and delivery. Laurie is incredibly thoughtful, from her prenatal meetings (both myself and my introverted husband felt she "got" us immediately, which is a gift), to her expertise in telling us what each presented birth option (induction, etc) might entail, to navigating the medical system (whether it be communication with our nurse or advocacy with a clueless anesthesiology resident) to touches like calming lighting in the delivery room, post natal massage, and taking brilliant photos of baby and us at the moment of her birth. It was like have a perinatal therapist, extra labor and delivery nurse, and wise family member all in one. She made us feel supported, informed, and never judged in any of our choices. She received compliments from Swedish nursing staff, and also was recognized by many of them as well!
