Going into this, I honestly thought a doula was mainly there for my wife. What I didn’t expect was how much Sonja would support me too. She let me get some sleep, and when I woke up, the midwife was already there, because Sonja knew my wife was further along than we thought, That alone says everything about her experience and instincts.
For my wife, she was everything you’d want, steady, reassuring, and supportive. But what really stood out to me was how she made us a team through the whole experience instead of leaving me on the sidelines.
She went above and beyond, no question.
This was more than an investment; it was one of the best decisions we made. And from one dad to another: don’t make the mistake of skipping postpartum support. That’s when things really hit, and having Sonja there is a game changer. If you have the chance to work with her, take it.
