Serena was absolutely essential in having a pleasant birth experience. Before labor she set up two different prenatal visits to allow you to learn about birth and get more comfortable with her. She brought a warm energy and I never felt judged for what I wanted during my birth. She really allows you to be in the drivers seat and she is there to support you. She also made sure to mention she supports the couple, both the birthing person and their partner which was important to me with a first child.
My labor progressed extremely quickly (I had a baby within 8 hours which was very abnormal for a first time mom) and Serena was essential in making that experience better. She would talk through whatever the nurses and doctors were doing in the hospital and provided techniques through contractions to help distract from the pain. I can confidently say that without Serena there, my birth experience would have been a lot harder. Labor is already hard but having Serena there made it all less scary.
We are so grateful for Serena and would recommend her to any and all looking for a doula who is kind, knowledgeable, supportive and adaptable. Thank you again for everything, Serena!
