I guess I should post this review. Maybe I've been holding off since my birth in January because this is the final piece of the experience and I just haven't been ready to finish. When I learned of my second pregnancy, without hesitation I thought the first thing I needed to secure was Mel as our doula. With our first meeting I was excited for my first to become familiar with them (he was a little too newborn to remember the first meet), and one thing I'll always remember is my 1 year old giving Mel his 'U' for unicorn fridge magnet.
It's no coincidence that Mel is the unicorn of doulas. They were the first and only interview because of the instant comfort this introvert felt at meeting them. Two very different home birth experiences, Mel never fell short of helping me feel safe, secure, and completely at ease through any challenge I faced. They are attentive, hard working, gentle, have an amazing sense of humor, and the support through it all leaves you feeling the highest level of empowerment you've ever known.
It's bittersweet knowing it has to come to an end, but I already know the first thing I'm doing if my husband and I decide for a third. I cannot recommend Mel enough.
I didn't just meet my doula because of my children, I met a forever friend.
