Although I had originally planned to work with my primary doula during labor, I knew there was always a possibility she could be attending another birth when my time came. And so it did- Joy stepped in as my backup doula, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
Joy was incredibly supportive to both my husband and me throughout labor. She got on the phone with us while I was laboring at home and stayed talking to us almost the whole way to the hospital. This was so reassuring and helped me (and my husband) feel supported from the very beginning. When she arrived at the birth, she immediately brought a calm, encouraging presence and spoke up about my birth preferences to the hospital staff very well.
Her positive energy, encouragement, and support made such a difference during one of the most important days of our lives. The transition to working with her was seamless, and I am so grateful she was there to help welcome our baby into the world.
What impressed me even more was that her support didn’t end after the birth. She came to visit me postpartum and was incredibly helpful during that transition into parenthood. She answered questions, offered encouragement, and continued to provide the same caring, supportive presence that meant so much during labor and delivery. I am so thankful for her role in our birth and postpartum experience and would highly recommend her to any growing family!
