It is hard to put into words how amazing Rachel is and how much she did for us, physically and emotionally. She has so much doula experience as well as first hand birth experience so I immediately felt safe with her! First off, right when I met her via FaceTime to see if we’d be a good fit, there was a peace about her and I told my husband that she HAD to be my doula. There was no question about it. She welcomed us into her home for the birthing classes she lead which were so helpful not only for me, but my husband too. We learned so much from the evidence based birth lessons.
When birth time came around, Rachel provided so much physical support for me and emotional support for my husband. We truly both needed her! Unfortunately my birth didn’t go as planned, but Rachel remained a peace and comfort that I leaned on (literally) throughout my home birth turned hospital birth. Having her there with us in the hospital made it feel much less scary/uneasy. She still put me in all sorts of positions, braided my hair, comforted us, and was there for us during my very long birth process. It was amazing having her and my husband because they were able to take turns supporting me physically.
With Rachel, you get more than someone who will just be there on the day of your birth. You also get a teacher, friend, and someone who truly cares about you and your family even after you’ve given birth. She means so much to our family and I can’t imagine my future births without her!
