There are people who enter your life at exactly the right moment, and Marissa came into mine during one of the most transformative seasons I’ve ever experienced. I was moving, starting a new job, and very, very pregnant. From our first intake call, my husband and I knew immediately that she was the person we wanted by our side during delivery.
From our earliest conversations about who we are and what we hoped for in our birth experience, Marissa was warm, funny, realistic, and incredibly kind. She took the time to get to know both my husband and myself to understand what mattered most. She offered thoughtful recommendations while ensuring we always felt ownership over the choices we made. She empowered us to create a birth plan that felt authentically ours.
I don’t know many people who can say that their birth experience felt like one of the best sleepovers they’ve ever had, but I’m one of them. After my water broke Marissa, my incredible obstetrician, and I found ourselves chatting at 2 a.m. in my hospital room watching a cult classic mid 2000s rom-com. We laughed, shared stories, and reminisced about girlhood. The next morning, Marissa held my hand (and my foot) as my husband and I welcomed our sweet daughter into the world.
When our postpartum support unexpectedly fell through, Marissa stepped in once again. She connected us with Brooke, who turned out to be the perfect fit for our family during those precious early weeks. Together, Marissa and Brooke helped guide me as a new mother, gently reminding me that caring for myself was as important as caring for my child.
