About an hour or so after I delivered our son, I said to my husband and parents, “I don’t know how people do it (natural child birth) without someone like Marcia.” Our birth didn’t quite go to plan, and it was incredibly helpful to have Marcia along for the ride with us as we navigated early labor at home, heading to the Birth Center, being sent back home as labor stalled out, and then ultimately ending up at the hospital the next day. She was instrumental in getting through the intensity of a natural, vaginal birth. Her presence and guidance was calming, encouraging, and reassuring even when she was pushing me further into the discomfort. When I delivered our sweet babe, I had a lot of bleeding. I was quickly moved onto the bed with nurses buzzing all about and the doctor jumping in. It was an experience that could’ve caused a lot of stress and anxiety, but that was not the case, and part of that was because we had Marcia there with us. She stayed with us until everything had calmed down, which was after she had helped with my first breastfeeding experience. All around I’m so glad we hired her and will promptly do so again with any future pregnancies!
