Words cannot describe what a Godsend Chelsea was to me and my family. We brought home a premature infant who could not regulate his body temperature. As frightening as that was, just a few weeks later, our other son (we have four boys) was diagnosed with severe brain inflammation. The days were longer than I ever knew possible. Without Chelsea’s loving arms, steady support, dependability, fierce hugs, and willingness to help with countless things I simply didn’t have the time or capacity to manage, I’m not sure how I would have made it through. When Chelsea was caring for my newborn, I slept deeply for the first time in months. I kept her with him for more than six months because her presence gave me the strength to care for both him and our older son during the day. She brought peace into the middle of chaos, comfort into fear, and strength when I had very little left to give.
