We had previously hired Kaylen for postpartum services after the birth of our first child (see separate testimonial below for details!), and decided to hire her again when we were due with our second child. It was wonderful to be reconnected with a trusted individual that was already familiar with our home, personalities, and quirks.
During third trimester, we had an initial intake call to discuss what we were expecting with our second birth, including what type of delivery and postpartum recovery mom would need, our older child's milestones and personality, and what other support structures we will have this time. It was fascinating to learn how different the transition to a family of 4 would be. We decided to lean on Kaylen for postpartum meal prep and for helping our toddler transition into a family of 4, moreso than what we focused on as first-time parents (non-stop questions for how to effectively nurse/pump, bathe, babywear, travel, gear, etc).
Kaylen initially visited us 3x a week, and we later weaned to 2x a week. Each week she would send us a weekly menu, which we would approve and place a grocery shipment. During each visit, Kaylen would check in to see how I was recovering physically and what's top of mind, and then we would be able to chat casually as she worked in the kitchen. It had the comfort of hanging out with a very knowledgable friend. She helped me debug a latch issue, learn a few new holds, respond to our toddler acting out, and navigate potty training. Our toddler now is a loving big sister, helps mom with diaper changes and baths, and can't wait for baby brother to grow up and play together.
It was wonderful getting to work with Kaylen again to navigate this transition!
