Leanna is an amazing doula, my husband and I cannot say enough positive things. Hiring her turned out to be one of the best decisions we made for our birth experience. I cannot express enough gratitude for her presence and genuinely don’t know if I could have succeeded at my desired outcome without her. I was reluctant to hire a doula at all, uncertain that I really needed one, but decided the additional support would only be helpful during my first birth with the goal of delivering naturally.
From our first meeting, my husband and I felt she aligned with our values incredibly well which was extremely important for us. We asked for her honest opinion on certain topics because we valued her insight and it was our first time making some of the many decisions involved with having a baby. She shared in the most respectful and honest way possible. She spent many hours with us during the prenatal appointments which allowed us to get to know her better and feel very comfortable. We asked a lot of questions and covered a lot of topics that led us to feel more at ease with our plan going ahead. Her knowledge and expertise helped us to better understand expectations and she assisted with creating our birth plan. I appreciated that she emphasized the importance of mental and emotional preparation and allowing space for the possibility of things not going exactly as planned.
When it came time for birth, she was there as soon as we needed. I ended up with a very long labor and a couple unexpected aspects but she never wavered and stayed with us through its entirety. She offered guidance in moments of uncertainty that was paired with her understanding of my goals. She helped advocate for my wishes in every way, big and small.
Additionally, she encapsulated my placenta which is such a special service to add.
Truly, we cannot recommend her more and look forward to having her with us when it’s time for #2.
