Hiring Laura as my doula was one of the best decisions my husband and I made for the birth of our first child! I knew at our first interview that we clicked well and Laura put me at ease immediately after hearing her personal birth experiences and extensive history as a doula.
The birth class Laura offers was very helpful and educational. She explains things so well and we practiced labor positions and could ask any questions - afterwards I felt much more confident regarding the choices I had made for my birth plan. with my goal of natural/unmedicated childbirth.
Laura checked in every few weeks leading up to my due date, and when labor started, I was in contact with her as things started progressing at home. She was very encouraging in assuring me things were progressing as they should, which gave me some peace as I navigated contractions. Ultimately for me, my labor escalated very quickly, and I gave birth only 30 mins after reaching my birth place, and Laura did not have time to reach to be present. But once she arrived she helped with aftercare, taking photos, and getting baby latched. I will always be grateful when I remember her presence in these moments!
The thing I am most grateful for with Laura's services was her check-ins and assistance postpartum for the first month or so. I had a lot of difficulty with breastfeeding - milk supply more specifically. Laura helped me brainstorm strategies and ways to work on increasing my supply and helped analyze my situation as we attempted to improve it. Unfortunately we tried almost everything and realized I am an undersupplier of milk. But all along the way Laura encouraged me to keep going on the hard days and even went above and beyond by helping to connect me to several donor milk sources.
Laura's kindness, calm spirit, humor expertise, and encouragement made such a positive impact on my pregnancy & postpartum season! Could not recommend her more!!
