Suzanne was my doula for both of my births, 2022 and 2025. She was amazing for both! What I appreciate most about Suzanne is that she supports you no matter what direction your birth goes.
For my first, I tried to go unmedicated for as long as I could, and she supported me through many hours of that, using a TENS unit and a warm bath. When I finally requested an epidural, she was fully supportive and held me for the placement. She helped me stay comfortable, adjust meds, and guided me through the pushing process.
For my second, Suzanne was my primary doula, with Cari as backup. Both attended prenatal sessions and were extremely helpful. (Cari is also amazing!) My pregnancy was more complicated than the first, with gestational hypertension that escalated to pre-eclampsia, leading to an induction at 37 weeks. They were both super helpful decoding what was happening as the preganancy progressed, and warned me that magnesium may be needed. Sure enough, I was put on a magnesium drip for the birth, which made me feel so sick I decided to request the epidural before real contractions even started (after starting Pitocin but before breaking the waters). Suzanne was so supportive and again held me during the epidural placement. She was again helpful in keeping me comfortable and guiding me in pushing once it was time. My baby needed the NICU, and Suzanne painstakingly hand expressed 12 mL of colostrum from me to feed him.
Overall, I fully trusted Suzanne and her team to have my best interests at heart during both births and afterward. The postpartum check-ins and support during breastfeeding, as well as the community Suzanne and her team cultivated, are amazing supports to new parents. I also really appreciated the maternity photoshoot before my second birth, and that she gave out thank you gifts to the medical team after both of my births! I am so happy I chose Suzanne as my doula and would choose her again!
