I can't imagine my pregnancy and birth without Julie. She was an incredibly knowledgable and calming presence throughout the journey. She was very familiar with the hospital (Duke Regional) and had techniques we used to reposition my baby since he was facing up. While I pushed, she fanned my face. When I was thirsty or hungry, she had a drink and labor-friendly snacks. Whenever my husband and/or mother had to go do something, Julie stayed with me so that I wasn't alone. I had heard so many labor horror stories on the internet and am happy to say that I get to look back at my labor fondly. It was a magical experience, and Julie had a big part in that.
Outside of labor, Julie was able to connect me to useful resources like birth classes and lactation consultants. She wasn't just helpful to me, but for my husband and my mom when it came to what to expect and how to prepare.
