Could I have had this baby without you? Sure. But my goodness am I so thankful I hired you. Being that this was my third baby, I figured I wouldn’t need the extra support…third babies fly out right? Or at least that’s what I heard. But I kept getting a nudge…. I already knew you were flipping awesome, because you supported my sister in her first insanely long but successful labor. I just kept getting a feeling something would come up…maybe I’d need more support than I thought. Worst case scenario things are easy peasy and we just get to hang out with you. WELL. You warned me third labors were a wild card. You were right. During my labor, I had moments of doubt. “Why are things so weird this time? Is something wrong?” I will NEVER forget how thoughtful and supportive you were during this time. Not once did I feel like a burden. You were in constant contact with me, and I just felt…safe. I knew you had my back, and that helped my doubt turn into confidence. Of all my labors, this was definitely the strangest one in terms of how things unfolded…but believe me when I say it was my most beautiful labor. YOU had such a massive part in that Mel. Plus, my older kids love love love you. I think my favorite memory was you bringing me electrolyte water and I was like “ew is this watermelon?” And you immediately went and got me a flavor I liked. I still chuckle. Also when you had everyone leave the birth space except for Joel and me…I didn’t realize how much that would help labor progress. It was such a beautiful time! You really just brought so much joy and comfort to our home during those last couple days. Thank you so very much. Goodbye truly is such sweet sorrow. Until the next one!!
