Amanda was truly amazing throughout this process. This was my husband and I's first baby, and we had no idea what we were doing! Amanda was super patient with all our questions, and when we weren't sure what to ask she guided us through what to expect and common questions. She was always available by email and text, which was so reassuring. She visited our home prior to the birth and gave us the option to have her come over during labor or meet us at the hospital. We asked her to come over as my contractions started to get closer, and she assisted me with breathing and positioning techniques (and bright a tend machine). She was super helpful in getting us ready for the hospital. Once there, she truly helped me focus and keep my wits about me- I wanted to have an unmedicated birth and while I did succeed I also had quite a traumatic experience. My son was large (9lbs 7oz!) and we ended up having a shoulder dystocia with him. The midwives weren't very communicative with what was going on, and it felt like as soon as he was born everyone left to take care of the baby and Amanda stayed right by my side relaying information. I was so scared because it took him a minute to cry, and I was so out of it from pain that I just remember looking at her and feeling like she had me. I'll never forget that, and truly could have had a much, much worse experience without her. She's been fabulous postpartum and has continued to be available to us and help with advice or answer more questions. I can't recommend her enough! You would be in truly wonderful hands to have Amanda as your doula!
