Suzanne and Cari came into our lives highly recommended by a friend who had recently hired them for her birth. After our first Zoom call with Suzanne, we knew she was the perfect person for our family. She was warm, open minded, and deeply empathetic. Talking to Suzanne immediately felt like talking to a longtime friend, and it made me feel immediately sure that she was the one I wanted in the hospital room with me.
Suzanne and Cari also did an in person visit after the initial call. It was clear how much they cared about our family as a whole. From making an effort to get to know our pets, to getting to understand our older son who has special needs. Suzanne and Cari understood that as an overwhelmed second time mom, my check in conversation needed to be geared to the postpartum and self care aspect of birth/pregnancy. I felt so seen and heard talking to them about postpartum depression awareness.
During the pregnancy, Suzanne and Cari checked in with me consistently and was always present and ready with answers and recommendations whenever I had questions or concerns. During the birth, Suzanne was truly a hero. She checked in at odd hours of the night during my early labor and showed up at the hospital before I even arrived because she “had a feeling” that I’d be heading there soon. Once I was checked into the room, she got me to do exercises to move the baby into a better position for labor. Within 20 mins of doing the exercises, I moved from 5cm to the baby being minutes away from being born! Through my most frantic vulnerable moments, Suzanne was my unwavering support. I was able to have my dream med free birth thanks to Suzanne’s coaching and support.
I am truly so thankful for both Suzanne and Cari for their care. They were always there and are still there through the postpartum and newborn phase. I cannot recommend them enough to anyone looking for a doula!
