Kimberly was everything we needed in our birthing journey. She guided us through every step of pregnancy, prepared us mentally, emotionally, and physically, for birth, and then supported us closely through an unplanned induction and multi-day hospital stay. The beginning of our birth was difficult, but the evening that Kimberly showed up, everything turned around--despite a challenging start, we were soon able to have a calm, safe, almost dreamy birth experience. As the birthing person, I felt so safe and supported in her care, and complete trust.
I think it's also important to mention that even though some of my personal choices for the birth may not have fully lined up with what I believe she might choose herself, Kimberly supported me, understood my wishes, and helped me advocate for my goals. That is to say, she did not push me into making different choices but really did show up in the ways that I needed and paid attention to what it was that I wanted in my birth. Our baby's entry to the world would have been a completely different experience (for the worse) without her support and presence. She took such good care of us, and we absolutely loved our experience with her!
