I initially thought I wouldn’t need a doula since I was giving birth in a hospital with doctors and nurses. But as I got closer to my due date, I realized how little I actually knew about the birth process. I wanted to understand what was happening and stay actively involved, not just hand everything over.

She stayed until all the staff left and made sure the baby latched for the first time. Even when I was completely exhausted, she gently guided me through it.
