While being present for the delivery was part of her professional duties, Chantell truly rose to the occasion when a standard delivery turned into a life-threatening emergency.
In the hours following the birth, while I was focused on my daughter’s status, Chantell was the first person to hold my granddaughter at my request. It was 'touch and go' for my daughter for over five hours; during that time, Chantell stayed by the side of my hours-old granddaughter and myself until my daughter was stabilized and moved to the intensive care unit.
Chantell was my support during that period of uncertainty. I was afraid, but because of her, I was not alone. After that exhausting experience, she still went home and returned the next day even earlier than scheduled.
