I'm grateful every day that we found Lauren. One of our providers had a connection who recommended her, and we knew she was the right fit from our first conversation. Lauren is the perfect mix of empathic, informative, charismatic, and assertive. She helped us envision our birth experience and make concrete decisions about our plan, then guided us through every moment of labor with thorough preparation along the way.
She was incredibly responsive to our needs and to the type of communicators we are. Both my husband and I have scientific backgrounds, and Lauren always led with evidence-based recommendations. But she wasn't all science and medicine (in the best way). She also made room for coping strategies rooted in traditions outside of Western medicine that had real validity, and worked with me to shape an approach we felt comfortable with. I felt emotionally supported and knew she was in my corner when it came to interacting with my care team.
Ultimately, I didn't go into labor at home but had an induction, and Lauren was keeping an eye out every moment. As soon as we needed her she arrived and adjusted seamlessly to the situation. She helped me through some of the most challenging pain of my life with tools personalized to the moment and to what she knew I'd respond to from getting to know me. She helped me bring my daughter into this world—literally talking me through contractions, holding my leg, and helping me draw strength from myself I didn't know I had.
After birth, Lauren checked in often and kept providing thoughtful advice for my recovery. I cannot recommend her enough. There aren't enough kind words to capture how intuitive, brilliant, and experienced she is. I plan to stay in touch regardless of whether we have another child, we just want her in our lives. Don't hesitate to work with her. She's a rare gem of a human.
