Testimonial for Portland Doula Love
When we signed up for a Doula service we had no expectations and just hoped it would be helpful in our first pregnancy (twins!). At the suggestion of our OB, we chose to look at Doula Love. After getting matched to Syah, I can see why their service is recommended.
The classes were incredibly helpful and the support from our doula from pregnancy through post partum has been unbelievably helpful. Syah helped us through times where we were concerned about preterm labor with calming my body doing some breathing exercises. She showed up with tools to support me and my partner during every visit and helped us build a birth plan that felt centered on what matters most to our family.
During our delivery, we had to change the plan in an emergency. She offered incredible support, talked through next steps, and talked with our medical team to better provide care. Her advocacy during this time was what stuck with us in our memories of a truly challenging scene. Her ability to navigate the complexity of the moment with such grace, compassion, and confidence was what we needed in that moment. It is a kindness that is unforgettable.
Syah also showed up for us in post partum to talk through mental health supports, lactation, caregiving for newborns, and how to support each other as partners. We feel really blessed to have a Doula who focused on our goals, was affirming of our identities, showed care for our unique support needs, and who was so easily able to work with everyone in our extensive team of supports. Syah is an incredible person and Doula who we have referred our other pregnant friends to because she showed up for us in ways beyond any hope we could have ever had for this experience. We are sincerely grateful to have had her on this journey and apart of our twins birth story.
