I loved my birth experience--and I'm certain that I wouldn't have had such a positive experience without Clara. I found Clara while in my 2nd trimester, through the MassHealth doula search engine--I just wish I had found her earlier in my pregnancy! Before I started working with her, I was feeling pretty anxious, stressed, and depressed, as I was having a lot of negative experiences feeling unsupported--and pressured--at the OB/GYN practice where I was receiving my prenatal care...but when I met Clara, it was a night and day difference! For the first time, I felt like someone was there to listen to me--no judgment, no pressure. I can't describe what that did for my mindset during pregnancy--just having someone like Clara there to support me--it boosted my spirits tremendously. I went from feeling anxious and worried to feeling genuinely excited and looking forward to my baby's birth.
At my OB/GYN's office I felt pretty powerless--like my providers were leaving me no control over my birthing decisions--but Clara's (amazing!!) birth course and my private sessions with her really gave me the confidence to feel good about listening my own desires when it came to my birth preferences--and to have the strength to say no to the things I didn't want. That wasn't something that I was able to do overnight--it was definitely through weeks, months of preparation using techniques I learned from Clara. Her birth course is priceless. I can't recommend it enough. And if my husband and I have a second child, there is no question, we will hire her again in a heartbeat! My birth wouldn't have been the same without her. She was there by my side, and it brought me so much peace. I had the most beautiful birth experience, and I absolutely feel I owe it to the spiritual and mental preparation I had with Clara.
