Heidy came to us through a friend’s recommendation, and we’re sure our birth and the nights that followed would not have been the same without her.
She answered every single one of our questions with a mix of data, experience, and thoughtful recommendations. Because of her, we were able to have the kind of experience we actually wanted. Before labor, she shared recommendations for classes, books, and other resources, and made sure we had everything we needed.
On the day of the birth, what mattered most was how she guided us through what was coming next. By the time nurses and doctors came in with updates, we already had that context from Heidy, which made everything feel more calm and under control.
The best kind of doula understands she’s not there to give medical advice, but uses her experience to explain what’s happening and advocate for the mother, especially in such a vulnerable moment, so she can have the experience she wants. There’s so much you don’t know about what happens in a hospital or how to navigate the system, and if you can have a doula, I wouldn’t hesitate for a second, especially someone like Heidy.
We also had her support during the nights, and it made a huge difference. She helped us with breastfeeding and caring for our daughter, but more importantly, our goal was to learn how to do things ourselves and feel confident, and we got there. Having a night doula allows you to actually rest and be more present the next day. She helped us establish a routine, prepared us for the unknown, and gave practical advice that truly reduced our anxiety during such an important time.
From labor through postpartum, Heidy helped ease our most anxious moments. At this point, I wouldn’t leave my baby with anyone else.
If you want an advocate during your birth and real support afterward, I highly recommend Heidy.
