I worked with Michele through District Doulas for the birth of my first child. I decided to work with a doula because I had a lot of anxiety about birth. My goal was to have an unmedicated birth with minimal medical interventions. Michele was quintessential in helping me have the birth experience I hoped for. She was a reassuring and calming presence at my home earlier in labor and helped reduce my fears as labor progressed. Her support allowed me to labor at home longer before going to the hospital, which had been one of my goals. She guided us through the logistics of arriving at the hospital and getting through triage. Once at the hospital, she was a strong advocate for my birthing preferences. She worked well with the hospital staff yet was persistent in asking for my wishes even when it wasn’t “protocol.” My husband and I didn’t have to think about anything other than laboring because Michele helped manage everything else. She had excellent suggestions for labor positions and modalities to help labor progress and supported my well-being throughout. I strongly recommend working with a doula for a positive birthing experience and Michelle has the perfect combination of competency and warmth. I would absolutely work with her again for future births.
