During my search for the right doula, I spoke with several candidates—but something Shari said during our interview stayed with me. She told me, “The first time you ask for an epidural, I will ignore you.” That resonated because I knew I wanted a natural birth, and I needed someone who would hold that intention for me when things became difficult.
Beyond her decades of experience, both my intuition and my midwife’s high praise for Shari reassured me that I was making the right choice. Throughout my pregnancy, Shari was consistently available to answer my questions and thoughtfully educate me. She prepared me for each stage of labor, ensuring I knew what to expect physically and mentally.
During my pregnancy, I unexpectedly lost my husband. In one of the most difficult periods of my life, Shari’s support extended far beyond pregnancy and birth. She showed up for me with compassion and genuine care, providing the emotional support I deeply needed during that time.
When the time came, I arrived at the hospital at exactly the right moment—something I credit to her guidance. During labor, when I felt like giving up, Shari reminded me of my strength, my resilience, and the inner warrior within me. With her support, I was able to give birth to my baby girl naturally, just as I had hoped.
Equally important, Shari empowered me to advocate for myself and, when I needed it most, she advocated for me. During labor, she stepped in as my partner—standing beside me and advocating strongly on my behalf when I could not, just as my husband would have done. She carried that role with deep care for my wellbeing.
In one of the most vulnerable moments of my life, her presence was grounding and protective. I am deeply grateful for Shari’s support, wisdom, and dedication. She was not just a doula—she was an anchor throughout my entire journey.
