It is both the easiest and the hardest thing to write about our experience with Daria as our birth doula. It is easy because I have no shortage of wonderful things to say about her, and hard because it is difficult to put into words how truly impactful she was on my birth experience and how profoundly grateful for her I am. My partner and I knew from the moment we first spoke with Daria that we wanted to work with her—we felt so connected with her and immediately knew she would be the most amazing supporter. Daria is a perfect blend of calm, informative, knowledgeable, and reliant on evidenced based practices while also encouraging you to trust your body. During our prenatal visits, Daria did an in-depth review of our birth plan and provided us with so much education and guidance to figure out what we wanted, as well as providing hands-on support for how to labor at home. Daria was consistently available for all our questions, always providing us with thoughtful, evidenced-based guidance to help us make decisions. From the moment I went into labor, Daria remained in constant contact with us. Once it was time to head to the hospital, she transformed the room into a calm peaceful environment, kept my body moving frequently after getting an epidural, and was a rock for both me and my partner through the entire process. Our entire hospital team commented on how much they liked working with Daria. Giving birth is such a deeply personal, sacred, and vulnerable time, and I truly recommend having Daria by your side for it.
