I seriously can’t say enough good things about Maddie Baumann. She was such an incredible support during my second labor. Our experience with a different doula during labor with our first wasn’t great, but it ended up being completely different with Maddie. Hiring her was worth every penny!
She’s really knowledgeable and has such a calm way of explaining what’s going on that made me feel empowered. Nothing ever felt pushy or judgmental, which was important to me. During my spontaneous labor, she helped us figure out when to go to the hospital, gave hands on massage/support, talked me through contractions and painful back labor, suggested different positions to get baby in a better position and helped me figure out how I wanted to make decisions around epidural timing and manual water breaking. She also got along so well with the hospital team, which made everything feel easier and more comfortable. Our nurse even commented on what an amazing doula we had after the birth!
After the birth, she kept showing up for us. She helped with latching in the time after delivery, checked in on me regularly, and even helped us pull together last-minute postpartum support when we were having a hard time. That meant a lot during those tough early days.
We also had help from three postpartum doulas through Expecting Joy, and Maddie Baumann was by far the best and most helpful. In addition to taking amazing care of our baby, she would jump in with things like laundry and tidying up, which made a huge difference for our family.
She’s calm, experienced, and just a genuinely caring person. I felt really comfortable with her the whole time. My husband also commented on what a great support she was. Truly a pro and just a real one. I would 100% hire her again.
