When we discovered we'd be having a baby for the first time all sorts of emotions fell upon us. Is there an instruction manual for this chapter of our life? Then it hit us, we want to have guidance during the pregnancy and a voice during the hospital visit. How could we achieve that sort of guidance and confidence? Doula! We researched local doulas and found Rachel Kwock. A well experienced, highly prepared, and best of all amazing listener ready to tailor her services to best combine a parent's wishes with real world possibilities. From our first chat where we discussed what she offered and what we needed, to the diverse information, house visits, and constant follow ups. During the hosital stay she was our right hand, even helping to inform us on crucial decisions before we blindly took them! Our birthing plan and Rachel's commitment to staying on plan helped to guide the hospital staff at every critical step along the way. After delivery, Rachel stayed in contact with us to further assist in any way that we may have needed. Fast forward three to four years later, we're expecting another child! My partner and I look at each other and say "lets call Rachel!" We received the exact same in-depth, professional, and expert guidance this time around as the first. It was another exceptional experience. To say we recommend her is an understatement. We EXTREMELY advise anyone expecting a baby to not go through this process without Rachel. We should also mention, a lot of what Rachel taught us was how to ensure Mama felt most comfortable and physically active in the weeks/months leading up to birth. She had great material covering what Dad could do to help Mama with pain management, exercises, baby's delivery, more. We were never in the dark about anything when it came to this brand new experience of becoming parents. We still aren't because Rachel is just a quick phone call or message away!
