As first-time parents welcoming our son, having Britney as our doula was one of the best decisions we made. Our birth experience was incredibly smooth, and we truly credit so much of that to her support.We met with Britney three times before the birth (including one in-person visit), and she walked us through nearly everything related to birth, postpartum, and our birth plan. The home visit, where we rehearsed what the big day might look like, was especially helpful—it really helped us visualize what to expect and how to prepare.I gave birth at 39+4, and Britney stayed in close communication with us throughout the day as my contractions began. When things intensified later that night, she came to our home right away. She was punctual, professional, and very easy to communicate with. Her calm presence during those intense hours meant so much to me and my husband.
She used techniques like hip squeezes and guided us through different coping strategies, which helped me tremendously and allowed us to stay home as long as possible. By the time we arrived at the hospital, I was already 9.5 cm dilated and ready to push.At the hospital, Britney continued to support us by communicating clearly with the medical staff and advocating for me every step of the way, while also providing hands-on support. Our son was born just an hour after we arrived. Britney also keeps checking in with us and visited us after birth and remain resouceful and helpful which is truly amazing.
